Sahagún

León

Once one of the most powerful Cluniac monasteries in Europe — and roughly the halfway point.

A short history

Sahagún's Benedictine abbey rivalled Cluny itself in the 11th century. Today its Mudéjar brick churches of San Tirso and San Lorenzo recall a town that once minted its own coins.
