Foncebadón

León

A near-ghost mountain village just below the Cruz de Ferro — the Camino's symbolic high point.

A short history

Foncebadón was almost deserted by the 1990s. Today a handful of albergues have brought it back, and just above town the iron cross atop a tall pole — the Cruz de Ferro — receives the stones pilgrims have carried from home.
