Top 10 Places to Eat in San Sebastián (Camino del Norte)
The Basque pintxos capital of the world, walked through on day 2 of the Norte. Where to eat — and what to order — when you only have one night.

San Sebastián has more Michelin stars per capita than almost anywhere on earth. As a pilgrim you don't need any of them — the city's pintxos bars are the real treasure.
Pintxos rule: order at the bar, eat standing, move on. Two or three pintxos per bar, then walk to the next.
The Parte Vieja (old town) is the densest pintxo zone in the world. Start at Plaza de la Constitución and wander.
1. La Cuchara de San Telmo — Their slow-cooked beef cheek (carrillera) is legendary.
2. Borda Berri — Risotto de idiazábal cheese. Order it.
3. Bar Néstor — One thing only: tortilla, served at 1pm and 8pm. Queue early.
4. Atari Gastroteka — Mushroom risotto and the foie gras pintxo.
5. Bar Sport — Best txuleta (rib steak) in the old town.
6. Gandarias — Solomillo pintxo with cabrales.
7. La Viña — Famous for Basque cheesecake. End your night here.
8. Bar Zeruko — Modern, technical pintxos. Try the bacalao.
9. A Fuego Negro — Black-painted, edgy, brilliant.
10. Ganbara — For the wild mushroom plate alone.
Plan it as a slow crawl over three hours. Drink small glasses of txakoli (the local sparkling white) or Rioja. Total spend: €30–€50.
